The 2012-13 season's started off on the right foot for Di Carlo's men who've defeated Ascoli in the TIM Cup and progress to the next round. There were four goals, all coming from the front line, with Théréau scoring in twice the first half, another from Pellissier, then Di Michele in the second half.

The Euganeo stadium hosts the first match of the official Gialloblù season, against Ascoli, who defeated Portogruaro to reach the third round of the TIM Cup. Di Carlo plays a classic 4-3-1-2 per Di Carlo, putting Théréau behind Pellissier and Di Michele; Silva goes for a 3-5-2 with Falconieri and Soncin in attack.

The first half is full of goals for the Gialloblù, who get into the match straightaway: after five minutes Théréau gets the lead and at 10 minutes captain Pellissier's precise shot from the edge of the area follows his example and gets past Guarna to make it 2-0. Ascoli are assertive in attack, making Sorrentino busy on a couple of occasions: a free kick from Di donato and a shot from Giallombardo. 27 minutes and it's 3-0 to Chievo when a perfect pass from Di Michele to Théréau leads to the goal.

The fourth Gialloblù goal comes at 53 minutes when good play from Di Michele from a Frey pass lets him get the ball past Guarna. Ten minutes later Théréau, among the best on the pitch, passes to Di Michele who this time doesn't get the goal. The Bianconeri keeper at 66 minutes makes a fingertip save from a Pellissier attempt. 75 minutes and Hanine comes on for Ascoli. Sub Moscardelli's long shot hits the crossbar, getting applause from the public. The whole team gets applauded at the end of their 4-0 victory on their season debut.

Now there are two days off before training resumes on Tuesday afternoon ahead of Sunday evening's match against Bologna.
