At the Friuli Stadium Chievo get off to a flying start and take the lead in the 9th minute: from deep in the Udinese half Rigoni puts through a high ball, Ekstrand heads clear but the ball falls to Sammarco who collects and dribbles past a defender in the area before classily firing past Handanovic.
In the following ten minutes Paloschi has two clear chances but on both occasions is thwarted by the Udinese keeper.

Chievo v Lazio will be played at 8:45pm on Sunday 29th January, as previously announced. The Biancoazzurri defeated Hellas Verona 3-2 in the TIM Cup yesterday.

Peruzzo to referee Udinese v Chievo

Sebastiano Peruzzo (Schio) will referee tomorrow night's Friuli stadium match between the Gialloblù and the Bianconeri for a place in the Tim Cup quarter-finals. He will be assisted by Roberto Carrer (Conegliano) and Mauro Vivenzi (Brescia), with Daniele Orsato (Schio) as fourth official. This season Peruzzo refereed the 2-2 Chievo draw with Novara.

In the other last 16 matches, Rocchi will referee this evening's Lazio v Hellas Verona match, and De Marco will do the same for tomorrow's Roma v Fiorentina tie.

After Roma, Udinese

Back from Rome yesterday evening, the Gialloblù returned to the pitch this morning ahead of the Tim Cup match in Udine this Wednesday at 5:30pm. The squad trained in two groups: warm-down exercises for those who played yesterday, gym, technical warm-up, ball possession and then finally a short match with the others.

Tomorrow sees a 2:30pm training session, after which Di Carlo and his men will leave for their pre-Udinese match retreat.

Roma: two penalties condemn Chievo

Roma have beaten Chievo 2-0 at the Olympic stadium with two penalties from Francesco Totti, one in each half.

The home team start strongly, and after 5 minutes Lamela is at the edge of the penalty area attempting to shoot, but Sorrentino manages to deflect the ball with his fingertips. Pjanic receives the ball from a corner but Sorrentino puts it safe.

At 22 minutes Bojan gives Roma another chance but Sorrentino is ready to save it with his foot.

Di Carlo names 22 for Roma at the Olimpico

2012 kicks off at the Olympic Stadium against Roma. Coach Di Carlo has flattering words for the Roma side: “a real team to be feared with their mix of young talents and experience” as he named his squad of 22 for Sunday’s match against Luis Enrique’s men.
